{"id":7946,"date":"2011-06-27T15:34:38","date_gmt":"2011-06-27T19:34:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=7946"},"modified":"2011-06-28T09:10:05","modified_gmt":"2011-06-28T13:10:05","slug":"strahan-and-sapp-not-on-board-with-a-tiki-comeback","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=7946","title":{"rendered":"Strahan And Sapp  Not On Board With A  Tiki Comeback"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former New York Giants running back <strong>Tiki Barber<\/strong> announced earlier this year that he\u2019s attempting an NFL comeback after a four-year absence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Warren Sapp<\/strong>, an old teammate of <strong>Tiki\u2019s<\/strong> twin brother <strong>Ronde Barber<\/strong> of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, thinks that\u2019s a bad idea.<br \/>\n\u201cNo, stop it,\u201d <strong>Sapp<\/strong> said \u201cEnough is enough. I didn\u2019t think much of him when he did play.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sapp\u2019s <\/strong>criticism of <strong>Tiki Barber<\/strong> stems from a propensity to fumble early in his career.\u00a0 And he felt it was disrespectful of <strong>Barber<\/strong> to criticize his quarterback, <strong>Eli Manning<\/strong> as well as coach<strong> Tom Coughlin<\/strong>, who worked with Barber to correct his fumbling problem, which he did, becoming the all time leading rusher for the Giants.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michael Strahan<\/strong>, former New York Giants defensive end and teammate of <strong>Barber <\/strong>agrees with <strong>Sapp<\/strong>. \u201cIf it comes to playing football, he can play,\u201d<strong> Strahan<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Strahan<\/strong> is skeptical of<strong> Barber<\/strong> finding a team this season because he believes <strong>Barber<\/strong> will be viewed by general managers as a liability in the locker room.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis impact was to kind of throw some guys under the bus, including the coach who taught you how not to fumble, and a quarterback who was young and just needed to learn, and obviously a quarterback who\u2019s quiet and not the rah-rah guy. Why would you do that?<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, <strong>Barber\u2019s<\/strong> career as a broadcaster ended fairly quickly, while <strong>Strahan<\/strong> and <strong>Sapp<\/strong> have gone on to have\u00a0 successful careers as NFL analysts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber announced earlier this year that he\u2019s attempting an NFL comeback after a four-year absence.
