{"id":7374,"date":"2011-06-06T16:18:10","date_gmt":"2011-06-06T20:18:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=7374"},"modified":"2011-06-06T15:54:47","modified_gmt":"2011-06-06T19:54:47","slug":"rb-diva-labelle-sued-over-alleged-airport-beating","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=7374","title":{"rendered":"R&amp;B Diva Patti Labelle Sued Over Alleged Airport Beating"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HOUSTON &#8212; A West Point cadet is suing R&amp;B diva <strong>Patti LaBelle<\/strong>, saying she ordered her bodyguards to beat him up as he waited for a ride home outside a Houston airport terminal.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit alleges the cadet, <strong>Richard King<\/strong>, was waiting for his brother and father to pick him up outside one of the terminals at Bush Intercontinental Airport, when three of<strong> LaBelle&#8217;s<\/strong> bodyguards attacked him. <strong>King<\/strong> was in Houston, his hometown, while on spring break from West Point.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Apparently, defendant <strong>LaBelle <\/strong>believed <strong>King<\/strong> was standing too close to her luggage, even though he was oblivious to her presence and the danger he was in,&#8221; according to <strong>King&#8217;s<\/strong> lawsuit, which was filed in Houston civil court last Wednesday and also names the bodyguards, the airport and a taxi dispatcher as co-defendants. &#8220;<strong>LaBelle<\/strong> lowered the window of her limousine and gave a command to her bodyguards.
