{"id":7197,"date":"2011-05-30T17:46:17","date_gmt":"2011-05-30T21:46:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=7197"},"modified":"2011-05-30T17:46:17","modified_gmt":"2011-05-30T21:46:17","slug":"photographer-says-he-almost-killed-nas-during-photo-shoot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=7197","title":{"rendered":"Photographer Says He Almost Killed Nas During Photo Shoot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Heralded photographer <strong>Danny Hastings<\/strong> recently revealed to MTV.com that an on set mishap nearly killed <strong>Nas<\/strong> during the 1999 photo shoot for I Am.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hastings<\/strong>, famous for capturing images for such iconic hip-hop albums as Big Pun&#8217;s Capitol Punishment and Raekwon&#8217;s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, says God&#8217;s son nearly suffocated while being fitted for a clay mold in order to capture the King Tut image used for I Am&#8217;s cover art.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe funny part was that the first attempt,<strong> Nas<\/strong> was getting asphyxiated. We almost killed <strong>Nas<\/strong>,&#8221; <strong>Hastings <\/strong>told MTV.com.<\/p>\n<p>Luckily, things were OK. \u201cWe cleaned him up, and he was like, &#8216;Let&#8217;s do it again!&#8217; [\u2026] <strong>Nas<\/strong> was a true sport.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The vision of continuing the lineage of album covers no doubt added to the illmatic rapper&#8217;s determination.<strong> Hastings<\/strong> dropped the knowledge on each covers theme saying,<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The first one, you have him being a boy, very young. The second was a little bit older. And the third one, he was a king,&#8221; he explained. &#8220;He already conquered the world. He was on top of the world. He was doing a lot of big things.
