HOLTON<br \/>\nSentinel City Editor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A 21-year-old man was arrested and charged with the murder of his girlfriend\u2019s infant son.\u00a0 <strong>Damarcus Kirkland-Williams<\/strong> is being held at the jail without bond.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff\u2019s Office, late Wednesday night, 13-month-old <strong>Ezekiel Mathis<\/strong> was transported to University Community Hospital after <strong>Kirkland-Williams<\/strong> reportedly found him unresponsive. The child was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n<p>During the police investigation, <strong>Kirkland-Williams<\/strong> reportedly told police that he was angry with the child\u2019s mother and intended to throw him onto the bed.<\/p>\n<p>However, the child\u2019s stomach struck the dresser. The incident took place at an apartment in the 13700 block of N. 21st Street.<br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7008\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/Swazikki-Davis-Ezekiel-Mathis2.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7008\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-7008\" src=\"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/Swazikki-Davis-Ezekiel-Mathis2-150x150.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/strong><p id=\"caption-attachment-7008\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ezekiel Mathis died Wednesday from Blunt Impact Trauma. He is shown with his mother, Swazikki Davis during happier times.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Kirkland-Williams<\/strong> further told police that he placed the child in the bed on his stomach. \u201cAs the victim would not stop crying, the defendant (<strong>Kirkland- Williams<\/strong>) intentionally struck him twice on his back,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kirkland-Williams<\/strong> told police that the infant\u2019s mother was not at home when the incident took place.<\/p>\n<p>The child reportedly had multiple bruises on his face and body. An autopsy revealed that the child died of blunt impact trauma to the head and body with lacerations of the liver and spleen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kirkland-Williams<\/strong> was arrested early Thursday morning and charged with first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Family Needs Help With Funeral<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Ms. Davis<\/strong> said the family is in need of help with his funeral. She has made arrangements to hold the funeral on Saturday, May 28th, at 11 a.m., at Ministry of Spirit &amp; Truth, 1417 E.
