{"id":6998,"date":"2011-05-23T16:30:29","date_gmt":"2011-05-23T20:30:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=6998"},"modified":"2011-05-23T16:31:16","modified_gmt":"2011-05-23T20:31:16","slug":"sons-of-prominent-tampa-pioneers-die","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=6998","title":{"rendered":"Sons Of Prominent Tampa Pioneers Die"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two members of popular families died recently. <strong>Mr. Gerald White, Sr<\/strong>., 64 years old, died on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>A Tampa native, <strong>Mr. White<\/strong> was one of 7 children born to the late <strong>Mr.<\/strong> and <strong>Mrs. Moses (Lucille) White<\/strong>. He attended the public schools of Hillsborough County and graduated from Blake High School.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mr. White<\/strong> continued his education at Florida A &amp; M University, where he earned his degree. After graduating from college, with a degree in Physical Education, <strong>Mr. White<\/strong> returned to Tampa.<\/p>\n<p>He and his son, <strong>Gerald, Jr.<\/strong>, opened Moses White &amp; Sons Bar-B-Que, in 1997 in Ybor City. He retired in 2004 after the business closed. <strong>Mr. White<\/strong> was the father of 3 children,<strong> Kevin White<\/strong>, <strong>Gerald White Jr<\/strong>., and<strong> LaTonya White<\/strong>.\u00a0 <strong>Mr. White<\/strong> was married to <strong>Mrs. Bridgid White <\/strong>for 45 years and was the grandfather of several children.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral services for <strong>Mr. White <\/strong>were incomplete as of press time.<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7001\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/ROBERT-COLE-JR.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7001\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-7001\" src=\"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/ROBERT-COLE-JR-150x150.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/strong><p id=\"caption-attachment-7001\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">ROBERT COLE JR<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Mr. Robert L. Cole, Jr.<\/strong>, the son of Tampa pioneer and businessman, <strong>Robert L. Cole, Sr.<\/strong> passed away Friday at his Ybor City home. He was 70 years old.<\/p>\n<p>According to his wife, <strong>Leola Cole<\/strong>, <strong>Mr. Cole<\/strong> died of cardiac arrest. She said her husband attended Middleton High School and joined the Armed Forces after graduation. After his discharge, he became a Counselor. He later worked for Tampa Electric.<\/p>\n<p>After his retirement from TECO, <strong>Mr. Cole<\/strong> helped his father operate several businesses at Tampa International Airport.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mr. Cole <\/strong>is the father of five children (a daughter is deceased), and he has five siblings.<\/p>\n<p>A service will be held for<strong> Mr. Cole<\/strong> this Saturday at 11 a.m., St. Luke A. M. E. Church. Aiken\u2019s Funeral Home is assisting the family.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two members of popular families died recently.
