{"id":6635,"date":"2011-05-12T14:47:54","date_gmt":"2011-05-12T18:47:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=6635"},"modified":"2011-05-12T14:47:54","modified_gmt":"2011-05-12T18:47:54","slug":"aspiring-teen-chef-needs-help-for-trip","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=6635","title":{"rendered":"Aspiring Teen Chef Needs Help For Trip"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Steven Oats<\/strong>, a 16-year- old high school student at Sickles High School is an aspiring pastry chef. <strong>Steven<\/strong> has been baking and decorating cakes since the age of 10. <strong>Steven <\/strong>was creative as a young child, always sketching out his visions of things he wanted to make or design.<\/p>\n<p>While helping his great-grandmother, <strong>Callie Crawford <\/strong>prepare cakes for her late brother\u2019s barbeque restaurant, Big John\u2019s Alabama BBQ, <strong>Steven <\/strong>thought to himself, \u201cI can do that!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He chose Sickles high School because of the history of its culinary department and the culinary teacher, <strong>Chef Rick Ceglio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chef Rick<\/strong> will be taking Steven along with 12 other students to Europe this summer for a tour of Italy. They will have the opportunity to see some of the most beautiful, historic parts of Italy while learning about their food and techniques of cooking and pastries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Steven<\/strong> will be having a fundraiser this Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Big John\u2019s Alabama Barbeque, 5707 N. 40th Street, to help raise money for his trip overseas.
