Former Mayor, <strong>Carlos Alvarez,<\/strong> was removed from office in a recall election on March 15.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Campbell<\/strong> said a big hurdle is getting people to take his mayoral aspirations seriously. His campaign will focus on economic development, public safety, affordable housing and revitalizing the community.<\/p>\n<p>County Commissioner <strong>Carlos Gimenez<\/strong>, <strong>Gabrielle Redfern<\/strong>, former Hialeah Mayor<strong> Julio Robaina<\/strong>, <strong>Jose &#8216;Pepe&#8217; Cancio<\/strong>, activist<strong> Jeffery Lampert<\/strong>, among others are <strong>Campbell&#8217;s <\/strong>opponents in the race for Mayor.<\/p>\n<p>Hip-hop artists like <strong>Wyclef Jean<\/strong>, who attempted to run for President of Haiti, and <strong>Rhymefest<\/strong>, who failed in a run for Chicago City Council, have not faired too well in politics.<\/p>\n<p>Still, if an actor born in Austria, best known for playing The Terminator in movies can be elected Governor of California, there is a good chance that a former rapper from Miami, best known for the song \u201cMe So Horny,\u201d can be elected Mayor of his home city.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Luther \u201cUncle Luke\u201d Campbell is officially set to begin his campaign trail in a run for Mayor of Miami-Dade County.
