{"id":5482,"date":"2011-04-11T15:48:01","date_gmt":"2011-04-11T19:48:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=5482"},"modified":"2011-04-11T15:48:01","modified_gmt":"2011-04-11T19:48:01","slug":"ten-year-old-returns-super-bowl-ring-to-perry-at-autograph-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=5482","title":{"rendered":"Ten-Year-Old Returns Super Bowl Ring To Perry At Autograph Show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CHICAGO \u2014 Chicago Bears great <strong>William \u201cThe Refrigerator\u201d Perry<\/strong> has his 1985 Super Bowl ring back on his finger thanks to a 10-year-old boy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cliff Forrest<\/strong> of Fox Chapel, Pa., took $8,500 out of his college savings account to buy <strong>Perry\u2019s<\/strong> Super Bowl ring in New York.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe only played in one Super Bowl,\u201d <strong>Cliff <\/strong>said. \u201cI thought he would want it more than I did.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So the boy asked his dad if he could give the ring back to <strong>Perry<\/strong>, who has been diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome. The autoimmune disease attacks the nervous system and can cause paralysis.<\/p>\n<p>But <strong>Cliff<\/strong> admires <strong>Perry<\/strong> and had heard of the famous Chicago Bears Super Bowl XX-winning team.<strong> Cliff\u2019s <\/strong>parents agreed and set out to return the ring to <strong>Perry<\/strong>, taking a flight to Chicago and giving the former football player his ring before an autograph session.<\/p>\n<p>In return, <strong>Perry<\/strong> gave the boy two autographed jerseys signed: \u201cThe Fridge, Thanks!\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CHICAGO \u2014 Chicago Bears great William \u201cThe Refrigerator\u201d Perry has his 1985 Super Bowl ring back on his finger thanks to a 10-year-old boy.
