{"id":5333,"date":"2011-04-07T14:22:58","date_gmt":"2011-04-07T18:22:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=5333"},"modified":"2011-04-07T14:22:58","modified_gmt":"2011-04-07T18:22:58","slug":"lebron-nearing-2000-points-for-seventh-straight-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=5333","title":{"rendered":"LeBron Nearing 2,000 Points For Seventh Straight Season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MIAMI \u2014 <strong>LeBron James<\/strong> speaks often of his appreciation for NBA history.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, he\u2019ll likely make some history.<br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>James<\/strong> needs only two points to reach 2,000 for the season, which would put him on another list alongside some of the game\u2019s greatest players.<\/p>\n<p>The NBA\u2019s two-time reigning MVP will become the eighth player to score 2,000 points seven times &#8211; and at 26, he will be the youngest member of that elite club.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt means a lot,\u201d <strong>James<\/strong> said. \u201cIt means I\u2019ve stayed healthy over the years. It also means the teammates and coaching staffs that I\u2019ve had have given me the leeway to go out there and score. I\u2019ve just tried to take full advantage of it. There\u2019s a lot of hard work that goes into it and I just try to go out on the court and be the best player I can every night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Every other player with seven seasons of scoring 2,000 points &#8211; <strong>Kareem Abdul-Jabbar<\/strong>, <strong>Wilt Chamberlain<\/strong>, <strong>Alex English<\/strong>, <strong>Michael Jordan, Karl Malone<\/strong>, <strong>Oscar Robertson<\/strong> and <strong>Dominique Wilkins <\/strong>&#8211; is in the Basketball Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n<p><strong>James<\/strong> will be the eighth person in that seven-timers club, and <strong>Kobe Bryant<\/strong> needs only 85 points in the Lakers\u2019 final six games to get to 2,000 again and join as well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MIAMI \u2014 LeBron James speaks often of his appreciation for NBA history.
