{"id":5326,"date":"2011-04-07T14:18:26","date_gmt":"2011-04-07T18:18:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=5326"},"modified":"2011-04-07T14:18:26","modified_gmt":"2011-04-07T18:18:26","slug":"sean-taylor-shooting-suspect-wants-media-barred","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=5326","title":{"rendered":"Sean Taylor Shooting Suspect Wants Media Barred"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MIAMI \u2014 The accused shooter in the 2007 killing of former Washington Redskins star <strong>Sean Taylor<\/strong> wants the media barred from a key hearing.<\/p>\n<p>A Miami-Dade County judge set a hearing Wednesday on the request from 20-year-old <strong>Eric Rivera, Jr.<\/strong> His attorney contends that an upcoming hearing on what evidence will be allowed could jeopardize <strong>Rivera\u2019s<\/strong> chances for a fair trial.<\/p>\n<p>Attorneys for The Miami Herald oppose closing the hearing, arguing there\u2019s no evidence media coverage will automatically taint a potential jury pool.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rivera<\/strong> is one of five people accused in the killing of<strong> Taylor<\/strong> during a botched robbery at his Miami-area home.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Taylor<\/strong> was an All-Pro safety with the Redskins who starred in college at the University of Miami.<\/p>\n<p>A trial in the case is expected later this year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MIAMI \u2014 The accused shooter in the 2007 killing of former Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor wants the media barred from a key hearing.
