Military veterans are dying by their own hands.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n In this week\u2019s CBC Message to America,\u00a0Congresswoman Corrine Brown\u00a0(D-FL) the ranking member of Veterans Affairs discusses how the Veterans Crisis Line can help prevent suicides amongst our soldiers.<\/p>\n American war veterans experience\u00a0\u201c22 suicides a day.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0\u201cOne [suicide] is unacceptable,\u201d\u00a0<\/em>she said.<\/p>\n She encouraged the American public\u00a0to\u00a0\u201csoldier up and reach out to veterans and make sure that they\u2019re calling the VA.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n According to Brown, only\u00a0three\u00a0out of the twenty-two suicide victims are involved with Veterans Affairs. She added many of the soldiers who commit suicide are African-Americans who served in the Vietnam War and\u00a0\u201cthey are not a part of the system.\u201d \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cWe as a community need to soldier up and get them involved\u201d<\/em>\u00a0in Veterans Affairs Rep.
