{"id":4077,"date":"2011-03-03T15:00:59","date_gmt":"2011-03-03T20:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=4077"},"modified":"2011-03-03T15:00:59","modified_gmt":"2011-03-03T20:00:59","slug":"barry-bonds%e2%80%99-trainer-picks-jail-over-stand-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=4077","title":{"rendered":"Barry Bonds\u2019 Trainer Picks Jail Over Stand, Again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Everybody needs a friend like <strong>Greg Anderson<\/strong>, especially if you happen to be a retired home run king suspected of doping and charged with lying to a grand jury about it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anderson\u2019s<\/strong> childhood friend and former boss, <strong>Barry Bonds<\/strong>, was back in court again Tuesday, pleading not guilty, again, knowing full well that <strong>Anderson<\/strong> would refuse to testify against him and as a result, wind up spending some time in jail \u2014 again.<\/p>\n<p>Three years have passed since <strong>Bonds<\/strong> was originally charged with lying under oath, but almost seven have gone by since the two men first got caught in the government\u2019s net during an investigation into the BALCO labs in California.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anderson<\/strong> went to prison the first time in 2005, after pleading guilty to steroid distribution and money laundering tied to the BALCO operation, then twice more for refusing to tell the feds what he knows about<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bonds<\/strong>, whose next stay in jail \u2014 if it comes to that \u2014 will be his first.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, <strong>Anderson<\/strong> told U.S. District <strong>Judge Susan Illston<\/strong> he wouldn\u2019t take the stand and when the case goes to trial March 21, he will be going back to jail for as long it lasts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Everybody needs a friend like Greg Anderson, especially if you happen to be a retired home run king suspected of doping and charged with lying to a grand jury about it.
