The charges stem from a traffic accident that left three people dead in September 2010.<\/p>\n<p>According to police, <strong>Ernest Smith, III<\/strong>, was arrested at his home Monday afternoon. <strong>Elder Walter Charles Givens<\/strong>, 67, and his wife, <strong>Mrs. Dion Givens<\/strong>, 45, died at the scene. Her co-worker, <strong>Ms. Helen Cummings<\/strong>, 58, who was ejected from the car, died at Tampa General Hospital.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Walter-and-Dione-Givens2.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-3536\" src=\"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Walter-and-Dione-Givens2-150x150.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Helen-Cummings4.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-3537 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Helen-Cummings4-150x150.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Helen-Cummings3.gif\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Detectives said the event data in the recorder of the car driven by Smith indicated that <strong>Smith<\/strong> was traveling 84 miles per hour when he approached the intersection.
