The charge was filed after medical personnel at St. Joseph\u2019s Hospital determined the toddler\u2019s injuries weren\u2019t the result of an accident.<\/p>\n<p>Police said <strong>Poole<\/strong> reportedly threw 16-month-old <strong>Ronderique Anderson<\/strong> on a bed, causing his head to hit the wall or dresser. He also allegedly hit the baby with an open hand and a belt that caused bruising on his buttocks and legs. The punishment was reportedly for playing near an electrical wall socket.<br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ronderique<\/strong> suffered a skull fracture causing his brain to bleed and according to doctors, it appears he won\u2019t survive his injuries.<\/p>\n<p>The grandmother of the toddler, <strong>Tashia Nunn-Scott<\/strong>, said when they got news of her grandson\u2019s injuries she and her daughter (the child\u2019s mother), <strong>Fredrina Scott<\/strong>, rushed to the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll of us were sitting in the waiting room for the intensive care unit when we were told visiting hours were over and we had to leave. We were told to go downstairs to the lobby and wait there. We tried explaining to them the severity of <strong>Ronderique\u2019s<\/strong> injuries, but that didn\u2019t make any difference. Later, we were told to leave the hospital without any explanation of why.\u201d<br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Nunn-Scott<\/strong> said <strong>Poole<\/strong> was given full custody of his son in December 2010 in spite of her objections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI contested that, and we were waiting for a court date to contest that and allow my daughter to prepare herself to care for her son.\u201d<br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Nunn-Scott<\/strong> said DCF has custody of <strong>Ronderique<\/strong> now, and won\u2019t allow them to see him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve reached out to the hospital\u2019s medical director in an effort to get this resolved. We\u2019re hoping we will be allowed to see <strong>Ronderique<\/strong> before it\u2019s too late.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tampa Police spokesperson, <strong>Andrea Davis<\/strong>, said detectives will be with the State Attorney\u2019s Office to decide if the charges should be upgraded if the toddler dies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tampa Police charged 23-year-old Dwayne Poole Wednesday with aggravated child abuse.
