CREWS<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Sentinel Staff Writer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You will never hear <strong>Yvonne Hodges<\/strong> say her sons, <strong>Vanord Rutherford<\/strong> and <strong>Oliver Hodges<\/strong>, or her nephew, <strong>Milton Smith<\/strong> are innocent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Elizabeth Thompson<\/strong> said the same thing about her son, <strong>Dannon Wilson.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All three young men, and seven others, are being tried in court under the RICO statute as alleged gang members.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Hodges<\/strong> said in her opinion, her son is being unjustly targeted by detectives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow can they say my son is the leader of a gang? They have no proof, and he has never done anything in his life that made him part of a gang. It\u2019s unjust and they\u2019re getting away with it without any justification.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rutherford, Hodges, Smith<\/strong> and seven others were in court Friday for a bond reduction hearing. <strong>Ms. Hodges<\/strong> said the bonds were reduced, but are still too high.<\/p>\n<p>[private]\u201cMy son\u2019s bond was a million dollars. They reduced it to $100,000. That\u2019s still ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Hodges<\/strong> and <strong>Ms. Thompson<\/strong> were both asked to leave the courtroom Friday after they spoke out in support of their family members.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Thompson<\/strong> said her son is being railroaded, plain and simple.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are trying to charge him with a murder that occurred in 2007 without any proof. I read the arrest report, and it has a lot of false information in it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was in prison when a lot of these things were going on. They just won\u2019t listen to any of us trying to speak on behalf of our children, and I don\u2019t think it\u2019s right they do whatever they want to do to our children without fear of anyone stopping them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Hodges<\/strong> has hired <strong>Attorney William Knight<\/strong> to represent her sons.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Hillsborough County State Attorney\u2019s Office, the case is being tried by state prosecutors.[\/private]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BY LEON B.
