{"id":3149,"date":"2011-01-10T15:35:51","date_gmt":"2011-01-10T20:35:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=3149"},"modified":"2011-01-10T15:35:51","modified_gmt":"2011-01-10T20:35:51","slug":"the-color-purple-helps-paint-a-brighter-future","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=3149","title":{"rendered":"The Color Purple Helps Paint A Brighter Future"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The touring production of <em>The Color Purple<\/em> did more than entertain Bay area residents during its recent stop at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa.\u00a0 It also helped make a difference in the lives of children.\u00a0 Proceeds of some of the ticket sales for the January 8th evening performance will benefit the Jack and Jill of America, Foundation, Inc. \u00a0The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.\u00a0 Programs funded by the Foundation include improving academic test scores, raising reading and mathematical skills, and instilling moral and social responsibility in America\u2019s youth.\u00a0 The organization&#8217;s National President, Tara Joseph-Labrie, traveled to Tampa for <em>The Color Purple<\/em> performance, as well as other high ranking leadership within the organization. \u00a0Among those in attendance were, left to right, Jack and Jill National President, Tara Joseph-Labrie; Greater Tampa Chapter President, Tangela Dupree; Southeastern Regional Director, Joli Cooper-Nelson, and Regional Member-At-Large, Sharon Bourges-Jones.
