\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a030 Rock<\/i>\u00a0star\u00a0Tracy Morgan\u00a0is in intensive care following a serious crash on the\u00a0New Jersey Turnpike\u00a0north of Trenton, state police confirm.<\/p>\n
The comedian’s tour bus was one of the six vehicles impacted when the driver of a Wal-Mart tractor-trailer came upon slow-moving traffic in the northbound lanes at Exit 7A near\u00a0Cranbury Township\u00a0and was unable to stop in time, state police said.<\/p>\n
Morgan, 45, was taken to\u00a0Robert Wood Johnson\u00a0Medical Center in\u00a0New Brunswick, as confirmed by a hospital spokesperson.<\/p>\n
James McNair, of Peekskill, N.Y., a passenger on Morgan’s bus, died in the crash, Sgt. 1st Class Greg Williams told the Associated Press. In addition to Morgan, two other passengers were in critical condition, and one was listed as fair, he said. Two occupants weren’t injured.<\/p>\n
Police say one of the passengers from his bus died; three others were critically injured and one is listed as being in fair condition.<\/p>\n
Morgan did a stand-up comedy gig in front of 1500 fans Friday night at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino in Delaware and presumably was on his way back to his home in\u00a0Bergen County, N.J. His scheduled appearance at the Fillmore Charlotte in North Carolina on Saturday night has been canceled.<\/p>\n
Accident investigation and cleanup kept that section of the road closed until 6:30 a.m.
\nMorgan joined\u00a0Saturday Night Live<\/i>\u00a0in 1996 and was on the sketch-comedy program for seven years before leaving to star in\u00a0The Tracy Morgan Show\u00a0<\/i>in 2003. That show lasted just one season. In 2006, Morgan found a long-running role in NBC’s hit show30 Rock<\/i>, which was created by\u00a0SNL<\/i>\u00a0co-star Tina Fey.<\/p>\n
Morgan grew up fatherless, one of five siblings, in a blighted section of Brooklyn, where he helped raise and support the family.<\/p>\n
