She appeared before the judge over closed-circuit television.<\/p>\n<p>Tampa Police arrested <strong>Ms. Eboni Shameeca Thompson,<\/strong> 31, Friday afternoon in connection with the death of 4-month-old <strong>Markala Thomspon. <\/strong>The infant died Tuesday night.<\/p>\n<p>According to police, the father, <strong>Marcus L. Harden,<\/strong> 38, said he left his home for about 20 minutes to go to the store and left <strong>Ms. Thompson<\/strong> at the house. When he returned, <strong>Ms. Thompson<\/strong> was holding the child on the couch.<\/p>\n<p>A short time later, she placed the infant in her bassinet. When <strong>Harden <\/strong>checked on the infant a short time later, he discovered that she was not breathing and called 9-1-1. The baby was transported to St. Joseph\u2019s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n<p>Police said <strong>Ms. Thompson<\/strong> did not have custody of the infant and was not supposed to have unsupervised visitation. She allegedly fled the scene when police attempted to interview her Tuesday night, but police were able to locate her.<\/p>\n<p>Police interviewed <strong>Ms. Thompson <\/strong>on Wednesday and again on Friday, after receiving the report from the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office. The autopsy report revealed the infant had multiple broken ribs and a broken arm.<\/p>\n<p>[private]According to police, <strong>Ms. Thompson <\/strong>confessed to chocking her baby until she stopped crying and eventually stopped breathing. She told police she pretended the baby was still alive when <strong>Harden<\/strong> returned home. <strong>Ms. Thompson<\/strong> also allegedly admitted to abusing the infant several times over the last four months.<\/p>\n<p>There were four other children, three girls ages 4, 6, and 17, and a 21-month-old boy living with <strong>Harden.<\/strong> Those children are now in custody of the Department of Children and Families.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Laura McElroy,<\/strong> spokesperson for the Tampa Police Department said, the investigation is continuing and police have not decided if <strong>Harden<\/strong> is going to be arrested for leaving the children with <strong>Ms. Thompson<\/strong> without supervision.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Thompson<\/strong> was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse with great bodily harm and aggravated child abuse.
