CREWS<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Sentinel Staff Writer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No matter what you may have heard or seen, <strong>Khia <\/strong>assures everyone that she\u2019s been working hard, touring, and having a ball.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Khia<\/strong> (born <strong>Khia Chambers<\/strong>) is just about finished with her 6<sup>th<\/sup> album, and has just returned from a tour in Greece.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really feel great at this point of my career. I have a live band and I\u2019m much more involved in the finished product than in the past. I\u2019m also doing more singing, and not as much rapping.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy desire has always to be a singer. I\u2019m not really a rapper.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really don\u2019t get a lot from today\u2019s artists. I do understand that longevity is important in t his industry, and when you look at the success of the older artists, you\u2019ll see they\u2019re still in hot demand while the others have faded away.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Khia<\/strong> said the industry today isn\u2019t as tough for women as it was in the past.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTechnology and your own motivation can make you successful. As an independent artist coming out of Tampa, I think I\u2019ve had fun and enjoyed a lot of success.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Khia\u2019s<\/strong> new album, <em>\u201cBeen A Bad Girl,\u201d<\/em> features material she wrote, and represents what she calls the real <strong>Khia <\/strong>and the kind of music she\u2019s always intended to perform.<\/p>\n<p>[private] \u201cIf there\u2019s one constant in this industry, it\u2019s that some women still feel the need to present themselves sexually to be successful along with their talent. I think I\u2019m beautiful the way I am.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t respect the women that turn themselves into something they\u2019re not just to attract an audience. I think they pressure themselves into taking that route because they just aren\u2019t patient enough to put in the time and energy and do it the right way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Khia<\/strong> said she\u2019ll be performing for her hometown with live shows on Channelside at the Imax and at the Improv in Orlando.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want everyone to come out and support the music. I just want to perform all over the world with my band and continue to associate with the real pioneers of the industry.
