{"id":24157,"date":"2013-09-09T15:28:56","date_gmt":"2013-09-09T19:28:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=24157"},"modified":"2013-09-09T15:28:56","modified_gmt":"2013-09-09T19:28:56","slug":"benedict-college-freshman-gives-birth-then-bleeds-to-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=24157","title":{"rendered":"Benedict College Freshman Gives Birth, Then Bleeds To Death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SOUTH CAROLINA &#8211; <b>Ayaanah Gibson<\/b>, a pregnant student at Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina, lost consciousness and bled to death in her dorm room after going into spontaneous labor.<\/p>\n<p>The 19-year-old freshman from Sacramento was alone over the long Labor Day weekend when the incident occurred.<\/p>\n<p>She was found dead late Tuesday night, along with her baby, which appeared to be stillborn, according to Richland County coroner, <b>Gary Watts.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Watts<\/b> said there was no indication of foul play. He said toxicology tests will be performed to determine whether <b>Gibson<\/b> was taking medication that might have interfered with her judgment or caused her to lose consciousness.<\/p>\n<p><b>Gibson<\/b> likely would have survived if she had received immediate medical attention, <b>Watts<\/b> said.<\/p>\n<p><b>Gibson<\/b> did not call 911 or otherwise seek help. She lived in a single-person dormitory room at Benedict, a small, private college in downtown Columbia.
