Tiger Woods <\/strong>was poised to make a run at his 15th major title but simply never got on track Sunday in the final round of the 142nd Open Championship at baked-out Muirfield in Gullane, Scotland.<\/p>\n The top-ranked Woods <\/strong>entered the final round tied for second, two shots behind leader Lee Westwood.<\/strong> But Tiger<\/strong> bogeyed three of the first six holes and never challenged, closing with a 3-over-par 74.<\/p>\n Tiger<\/strong> tied for sixth at 2-over-par 286, five strokes behind winner Phil Mickelson, <\/strong>who matched the week’s best score with a final-round 66.<\/p>\n After putting on slick greens early in the tournament, a composed but frustrated Woods<\/strong> said they got progressively slower and he had a hard time adjusting.<\/p>\n “They were much slower, much softer,” Tiger <\/strong>said.<\/p>\n “I don’t think I got too many putts to the hole. I really had a hard time and left myself a couple of long lag putts early on when it was really blowing and left them way short and didn’t make those putts.
