That\u2019s the biggest first weekend for the six-film franchise and the biggest opening weekend in total dollars ever for a Universal film.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also the second-biggest opening of 2013, behind only \u201c<em>Iron Man 3,\u201d<\/em> which took in more than $175 million on the first weekend after opening May 3. \u201c<em>Fast &amp; Furious 6<\/em>\u201d has a global estimate from Friday through Sunday of $275.5 million.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Hangover Part III\u201d<\/em> made $52 million, \u201c<em>Star Trek Into Darkness<\/em>, $38 million, <strong>Beyonce\u2019s<\/strong> new animated adventure \u201c<em>Epic<\/em>,\u201d $34.1 million and <em>\u201cIron Man 3<\/em>,\u201d $24.6 million.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pictured: Vin Diesel stars in &#8220;Fast &amp; Furious 6,&#8221; which is doing furiously well at the box office on this Memorial Day weekend.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The latest installment in the \u201cFast &amp; Furious\u201d franchise proved just that at the box office over the holiday weekend, pulling in an estimated $98.5 million over three days on its way to what\u2019s expected to be a four-day holiday total of about $122.2 million.
