{"id":21118,"date":"2013-05-09T16:01:01","date_gmt":"2013-05-09T20:01:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=21118"},"modified":"2013-05-09T16:01:01","modified_gmt":"2013-05-09T20:01:01","slug":"three-year-old-dies-in-tragic-accident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=21118","title":{"rendered":"Three-Year-Old Dies In Tragic Accident"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hillsborough County Sheriff\u2019s deputies reported that on Tuesday evening, 3-year-old <strong>Jadarrius Speights<\/strong> was killed when he accidently shot himself with a handgun.<\/p>\n<p>Detectives said <strong>Jeffrey Walker<\/strong>, 29, was sharing a bedroom with the child, and the handgun was in a backpack. <strong>Walker<\/strong> left the room, and <strong>Jadarrius<\/strong> started going through the back pack. When he found the handgun, he was playing with it when it fired.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Walker<\/strong> was charged with culpable negligence, and was booked and later released from the County Jail.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_21120\" style=\"width: 157px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Jeffrey-Donnell-Walker.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-21120\" class=\" wp-image-21120  \" src=\"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Jeffrey-Donnell-Walker.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"147\" height=\"162\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-21120\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jeffrey Donnell Walker<\/p><\/div>\n<p>At the time of the shooting, <strong>Jadarrius\u2019s <\/strong>parents, <strong>Jasmine Bell<\/strong> and <strong>Trentin Speights<\/strong>, were in the apartment located just south of Fletcher Avenue on 22<sup>nd<\/sup> Street.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jadarrius\u2019s<\/strong> great aunt, <strong>Mary Bell<\/strong>, said her great nephew was <strong>Jasmine\u2019s<\/strong> only child.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was taking a shower when she heard the shot. She jumped out of the shower, and found <strong>Jadarrius<\/strong> on the floor. He died in her arms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Bell<\/strong> said <strong>Walker<\/strong> moved in with his sister and her fianc\u00e9 a couple of months ago, and they knew he had a permit for a gun, but never saw it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOther people knew he had a gun, but never knew where he kept it. He said he always made sure the safety lock was on the gun before he put it away.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Bell<\/strong> said <strong>Jasmine <\/strong>was very excited when she gave birth to <strong>Jadarrius<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI called him <strong>Scudda<\/strong>. That was my nickname for him.
