He was 60.<\/p>\n<p>The New Jersey native moved to Toronto in the late 1960s with friend <strong>Garry Shider<\/strong>, and both joined United Soul \u2014 which brought them in contact with <strong>Clinton<\/strong>, who was producing some of the band\u2019s songs. <strong>Shider <\/strong>(who died in 2010) went on to become one of <strong>Clinton\u2019s<\/strong> musical directors, while <strong>Mosson<\/strong> was a part of Parliament-Funkadelic since the early 1970s. He played bass, drums and rhythm guitar and stepped in for <strong>Bootsy Collins<\/strong> when <strong>Collins<\/strong> pursued a solo career.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mosson<\/strong> played on albums including 1975s <em>\u201cMothership Connection\u201d<\/em> and 1978s <em>\u201cOne Nation Under a Groove.\u201d<\/em> He continued touring with the group until 2011.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cordell \u201cBoogie\u201d Mosson, who gained fame as the bassist for the George Clinton-fronted Parliament-Funkadelic group, died of liver failure on April 18,according to the New York Times.
