The singer filed the petition for the name change, which he said was for \u201cartistic reasons,\u201d back in November. \u201cIf <strong>Prince<\/strong> and <strong>P. Diddy<\/strong> can do it, why can\u2019t and shouldn\u2019t <strong>Jermaine<\/strong>?\u201d <strong>Jacksun\u2019s<\/strong> attorney,<strong> Bret D. Lewis<\/strong>, said at the time. A judge has now agreed. <strong>Jermaine <\/strong>is currently on tour with the other surviving members of the<strong> Jackson Five: Marlon, Jackie <\/strong>and <strong>Tito<\/strong>, so he was not at the court hearing.<\/p>\n<p>This is not the singer\u2019s first name change. He unofficially took the name <strong>Mohammad Abdul Aziz<\/strong> after converting to Islam back in 1989.
