{"id":19168,"date":"2013-01-21T16:31:17","date_gmt":"2013-01-21T21:31:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=19168"},"modified":"2013-01-21T16:35:36","modified_gmt":"2013-01-21T21:35:36","slug":"ex-miss-america-producer-removed-me-from-seat-because-im-black","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=19168","title":{"rendered":"Ex-Miss America: Producer Removed Me From Seat Because I\u2019m Black"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ericka Dunlap<\/strong>, Miss America 2004, is demanding that the pageant organization apologize to her after she claimed that a producer removed her from a prime seat at the competition last week because she is Black, though it \u00a0has been reported she was sitting in a no-Miss America zone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dunlap<\/strong>, the first African-American to win Miss Florida, said, \u201cI was sitting there on the aisle, and during the first commercial break during top 15 announcement, a producer came up to me and said, \u2018Get out of that seat. I need the seat. I don\u2019t give a f**k who you are. Get out of the f**king seat.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Citing the producer\u2019s tone, <strong>Dunlap<\/strong> says that she refused to leave. \u201cI was spoken to as if I didn\u2019t matter. If I were any other Miss America, I would have never been spoken to like that. But I\u2019m the only black one who comes back.\u201d <strong>Dunlap<\/strong> says that the producer called over an assistant producer who helped the first one physically remove her from the seat and relocated her. She doesn\u2019t plan to sue but is demanding an apology.<\/p>\n<p>The Miss America organization responded to the allegations, saying that <strong>Dunlaps\u2019s<\/strong> account is nonsense. \u201cDuring the night of the telecast, <strong>Ericka <\/strong>was unhappy with her seat, and she chose to move to a camera blocked seat that was reserved for the parents of our contestants.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ericka Dunlap, Miss America 2004, is demanding that the pageant organization apologize to her after she claimed that a producer removed her from a prime seat at the competition last week because she is Black, though it \u00a0has been reported she was sitting in a no-Miss America zone.
