{"id":19083,"date":"2013-01-14T16:59:12","date_gmt":"2013-01-14T21:59:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=19083"},"modified":"2013-01-14T16:59:12","modified_gmt":"2013-01-14T21:59:12","slug":"florida-baby-not-reported-missing-for-18-months-found-dead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=19083","title":{"rendered":"Florida Baby Not Reported Missing For 18 Months Found Dead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During a Friday press conference, Florida authorities announced that the remains of the body of <strong>Dontrell Melvin,<\/strong> who was 5-months-old when he disappeared in July of 2011, have been discovered at an address provided by his parents.<\/p>\n<p>For the entire time that baby<strong> Dontrell<\/strong> was missing no one was looking for him.<\/p>\n<p>Father, <strong>Calvin Melvin Jr.<\/strong>, 27, and mother, <strong>Brittney Sierra<\/strong>, have both been arrested in their son\u2019s disappearance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Calvin Melvin Jr.<\/strong>, 27, of Hallandale Beach, told police he dropped off his then-5-month-old son with his own parents in July 2011 because of financial trouble. The grandparents, who live in Pompano Beach, told officers they hadn\u2019t seen their grandbaby in over a year.<\/p>\n<p>In the year and a half since<strong> Melvin<\/strong> reportedly left the house with the baby and returned without him, <strong>Dontrell\u2019s<\/strong> mother said she believed her son was with his grandparents.<\/p>\n<p>The mother contacted authorities in October 2012, claiming <strong>Melvin<\/strong> had not allowed her to see <strong>Dontrell<\/strong> for over a year.<\/p>\n<p>Police <strong>Chief Dwayne Flournoy<\/strong> told reporters that the Florida Department of Children and Families conducted an investigation at that point, but the findings were unknown.<\/p>\n<p>The search for baby <strong>Dontrell<\/strong> began after Child Protective Services responding to a child neglect case at the mother\u2019s home discovered that there were only 2 children when there should have been three.<\/p>\n<p>Those two children are now in the custody of the state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During a Friday press conference, Florida authorities announced that the remains of the body of Dontrell Melvin, who was 5-months-old when he disappeared in July of 2011, have been discovered at an address provided by his parents.
