{"id":18901,"date":"2013-01-03T15:40:33","date_gmt":"2013-01-03T20:40:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=18901"},"modified":"2013-01-03T15:40:33","modified_gmt":"2013-01-03T20:40:33","slug":"woman-held-in-jail-for-11-days-after-cursing-in-public","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=18901","title":{"rendered":"Woman Held In Jail For 11 Days After Cursing In Public"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Michigan woman is free on bond after spending 11 days in jail.<\/p>\n<p>Her alleged crime: cursing.<\/p>\n<p>Hours after a circuit court judge ordered the bond for a woman jailed for swearing reduced to the $500 she already paid, <strong>LaRue Ford<\/strong> walked out of the Berrien County Jail.<\/p>\n<p>The ACLU filed an emergency appeal to get<strong> Ford<\/strong> released from the jail, where she\u2019s been since Dec. 18 for cursing in the court clerk\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>She said her first thoughts when she walked out shortly before 4 p.m. were, \u201cI\u2019m free. You know, free.\u201d She added, \u201cI guess right now I\u2019m just speechless, I\u2019m tired. I\u2019ve just been through so much.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ACLU maintains <strong>Ford\u2019s<\/strong> 1st Amendment rights were violated and they allege District Court <strong>Judge Dennis Wiley<\/strong> abused his authority in jailing Ford and revoking her bond.<\/p>\n<p>She admits cursing, but said it was to herself as she left the clerk\u2019s office frustrated after getting the runaround while trying to clear up an old traffic ticket.
