He was the driver of a car that crashed in Irving, Texas, early Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Cowboys practice squad linebacker <strong>Jerry Brown\u00a0<strong>(pictured, l)<\/strong><\/strong>, a close friend of<strong> Brent <\/strong>who was a passenger in the car, was killed. <strong>Brown<\/strong>, 25, and Brent had played together at Illinois.<strong> Bren<\/strong>t appeared shaken when he left the jail Sunday, telling the Morning News, \u201c<strong>Jerry Brown<\/strong> was my very best friend and I\u2019m just trying to deal with his death right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brent\u2019s <\/strong>bond amount is more than his 2012 salary with the Cowboys, which is $490,000.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cowboys Death, Arrest Serve As Another Sad Reminder <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the second consecutive week, the NFL was broadsided with a tragedy \u2013 a preventable, painful tragedy.<\/p>\n<p>This comes on the heels of Kansas City Chiefs linebacker<strong> Jovan Belcher<\/strong> committing suicide in front of his coach and general manager last Saturday after murdering <strong>Kasandra Perkins<\/strong>, his girlfriend and the mother of his 3-month-old daughter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Josh Brent (pictured, r)was released from jail on Sunday after he posted a $500,000 bond.
