{"id":18486,"date":"2012-12-06T15:54:16","date_gmt":"2012-12-06T20:54:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=18486"},"modified":"2012-12-06T15:54:16","modified_gmt":"2012-12-06T20:54:16","slug":"fugees-rapper-pras-sues-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=18486","title":{"rendered":"Fugees Rapper Pras Sues Director"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Considering <strong>Wyclef Jean&#8217;s<\/strong> Y\u00e9le Haiti issues and<strong> Lauren Hill&#8217;s<\/strong> tax troubles, it was only a matter of time before <strong>Pras<\/strong> got in on the legal struggle, too.<\/p>\n<p>The third member of the Fugees is suing a director for $70,000+ in money the rapper\/producer says he put down a few years ago out of his own pocket to create a documentary about being allegedly kidnapped by Somali pirates.<\/p>\n<p>According to legal docs filed Monday,<strong> Pras<\/strong> hired <strong>Marshall Tyler<\/strong> back in 2009 to direct a documentary film called <em>&#8220;Paper Dreams&#8221;<\/em>&#8212; about the rapper&#8217;s real-life, death-defying incident with pirates off the East African coast.<\/p>\n<p>In the suit, <strong>Pras<\/strong> claims he was &#8220;taken captive&#8221; by Somali pirates sometime in 2009 &#8212; however multiple reports say <strong>Pras<\/strong>, and his film crew, merely witnessed the famous capture of the Maersk Alabama in April 2009.<\/p>\n<p>According to his lawsuit,<strong> Pras <\/strong>says he put up $70k of his own money to cover filming and travel expenses &#8211;but says after the footage was shot, <strong>Marshall<\/strong> failed to hand it over.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Considering Wyclef Jean&#8217;s Y\u00e9le Haiti issues and Lauren Hill&#8217;s tax troubles, it was only a matter of time before Pras got in on the legal struggle, too.
