DETROIT \u2014 A Detroit father who inspired dozens of people to look for his missing 2-year-old daughter was sentenced to life in prison for her murder Monday while repeatedly insisting that she\u2019s still alive.<\/p>\n
D\u2019Andre Lane<\/strong> claimed Bianca Jones<\/strong> was abducted during a carjacking a year ago, a tragic, emotional story that led police and volunteers to scour the city\u2019s most depressed neighborhoods to look for her during the holiday season.<\/p>\n But investigators soon became skeptical and questioned Lane\u2019s<\/strong> credibility. He was convicted of first-degree murder in October after prosecutors said the carjacking was a lie to cover up Bianca\u2019s<\/strong> death. Authorities alleged that she was killed with a stick because she wet herself and wasn\u2019t toilet-trained.<\/p>\n Bianca\u2019s<\/strong> body has never been found.<\/p>\n \u201cYou controlled her dead body like a rag doll. \u2026 You figured that a city plagued with violence, understaffed by police \u2013 who would care? But you were wrong,\u201d Wayne County Circuit Judge Vonda Evans <\/strong>said.<\/p>\n Lane<\/strong>, 33, repeatedly professed his innocence and blamed police for an incomplete investigation.<\/p>\n \u201cI did not murder my child.
