Police said as <strong>Jeter<\/strong> crossed the street, several cars missed him, but about 35 seconds later, a vehicle hit him, applied brakes, and then fled.<\/p>\n<p>Witnesses reported that the vehicle, a dark colored compact, was traveling west on Hillsborough Avenue when it hit <strong>Jeter<\/strong> and fled. <strong>Jeter<\/strong> was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Police said <strong>Jeter<\/strong> was not crossing in a crosswalk, and after he was hit, several cars passed by, but didn\u2019t stop.<\/p>\n<p>Detectives said the vehicle that hit <strong>Jeter<\/strong> has extensive front end and windshield damage.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with information is asked to call Tampa Police or Crime Stoppers.<\/p>\n<p>According to his <strong><em>Facebook<\/em><\/strong> page, <strong>Jeter<\/strong> is a native of Clermont, Florida, and a 2008 graduate of East Ridge High School.
