{"id":17972,"date":"2012-11-12T15:23:53","date_gmt":"2012-11-12T20:23:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=17972"},"modified":"2012-11-12T15:23:53","modified_gmt":"2012-11-12T20:23:53","slug":"events-planned-to-help-ailing-disc-jockey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=17972","title":{"rendered":"Events Planned To Help Ailing Disc Jockey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With <strong>Floyd \u201cFloyd Joy\u201d Rivers<\/strong> being among only a handful of disc jockeys who\u2019ve been performing for more than four decades, it should come as no surprise that he has achieved legendary status.<\/p>\n<p>Two months ago, the area\u2019s most celebrated DJ suffered a mild stroke that also aggravated other health problems, and required him to spend a long time in the hospital.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Floyd Joy\u2019s<\/strong> hospital stay, as well as other medical expenses, has overwhelmed him and his family, so a group of his close friends and colleagues decided to come to the rescue.<\/p>\n<p>Three area lounges, the Zanzi Bar, Cotton Club, and Double Decker, have all agreed to host three events to help raise funds to cover the mounting medical expenses <strong>Floyd Joy<\/strong> has experienced.<\/p>\n<p>The first event will be held Friday, November 16<sup>th<\/sup> at the Double Decker Lounge on Cass Street and Edison Avenue. The second event will be held Saturday, November 17<sup>th<\/sup> upstairs at the new Zanzi Bar Lounge on Main Street. The third event will be held at the Cotton Club on the corner of Albany Avenue and Beach Street.<\/p>\n<p>All of the events will begin at 8 p. m., and featured guests will be local singer, <strong>Casanova<\/strong>, along with <strong>Carl Mark, Jr.,<\/strong> and <strong>the Jackson Brothers.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All of <strong>Floyd Joy\u2019s<\/strong> friends, associates, colleagues, and fans are invited to come out and show their support.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With Floyd \u201cFloyd Joy\u201d Rivers being among only a handful of disc jockeys who\u2019ve been performing for more than four decades, it should come as no surprise that he has achieved legendary status.
