{"id":17677,"date":"2012-10-25T16:06:53","date_gmt":"2012-10-25T20:06:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=17677"},"modified":"2012-10-25T16:06:53","modified_gmt":"2012-10-25T20:06:53","slug":"black-woman-set-on-fire-by-kkk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=17677","title":{"rendered":"Black Woman Set On Fire By KKK?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WINNSBRO, LA &#8211; Twenty-year-old <strong>Sharmeka Moffitt<\/strong> was reportedly set on fire by men as she walked on a park trail on Sunday night.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Moffitt<\/strong> was reportedly walking in Civitan Park in Winnsboro, La., when she was allegedly attacked by three men who were wearing \u201cwhite hoodies.\u201d While authorities have resisted calling the incident a \u201chate crime,\u201d they say that <strong>Moffitt\u2019s<\/strong> car was spray painted with a number of racial slurs, which were not specified.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Moffitt<\/strong> reportedly called 911 from the park at 8 p.m., after the incident, and is reportedly fighting for her life at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, La. The young woman is in critical condition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kevin Cobb, <\/strong>Franklin Parish sheriff, told the media in a press conference this afternoon, \u201cThis is a horrific event that will not be taken lightly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While the race of the men has not been officially confirmed, initial reports speculated that <strong>Moffitt<\/strong> was set on fire by the Ku Klux Klan, because she was wearing a <strong>President Barack Obama <\/strong>shirt.<\/p>\n<p>Monday afternoon, various media reports dispelled the <strong>Obama<\/strong> T-shirt rumor, but have not recanted that the men did indeed have white hoodies on during the attack.<\/p>\n<p>The FBI and Louisiana\u2019s fire Marshall\u2019s office are investigating.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WINNSBRO, LA &#8211; Twenty-year-old Sharmeka Moffitt was reportedly set on fire by men as she walked on a park trail on Sunday night.
