{"id":16644,"date":"2012-09-06T15:20:43","date_gmt":"2012-09-06T19:20:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=16644"},"modified":"2012-09-06T15:20:43","modified_gmt":"2012-09-06T19:20:43","slug":"buccaneers-to-host-panthers-for-season-opener","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=16644","title":{"rendered":"Buccaneers To Host Panthers For Season Opener"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tampa Bay Buccaneer quarterback, <strong>Josh Freeman (pictured)<\/strong> and Carolina Panther quarterback,<strong> Cam Newton<\/strong>, will join <strong>Russell Wilson<\/strong> (Seattle), <strong>Michael Vick<\/strong> (Philadelphia), and <strong>Robert Griffin, III<\/strong> (Washington) as a small group of African American quarterbacks who will be starting for their teams as the NFL regular season kicks off.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday at 4:25 p. m., the Bucs will host the Carolina Panthers at Raymond James Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>Last season, the Panthers humbled the Bucs twice, winning in week 13, 38-19, then coming back in week 16 with a 48-16 rout of the Bucs.<\/p>\n<p>The Buccaneer team that will be taking the field Sunday isn\u2019t the same one that faced the Panthers last year.<\/p>\n<p>The Bucs will have a new head coach, <strong>Greg Schiano<\/strong>, a new starting running back, <strong>Doug Martin<\/strong>, a new safety, <strong>Mark Barron<\/strong>, and revamped offensive and defensive lines.<br \/>\nOdds makers have picked the Panthers to win, but there are some factors that need to be pointed out.<\/p>\n<p>When the Panthers faced the Bucs last season in their first game, <strong>Freeman<\/strong> was a no show.
