{"id":16262,"date":"2012-08-20T15:56:59","date_gmt":"2012-08-20T19:56:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=16262"},"modified":"2012-08-20T15:56:59","modified_gmt":"2012-08-20T19:56:59","slug":"gwen-ifill-reportedly-livid-about-being-passed-over-for-debates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=16262","title":{"rendered":"Gwen Ifill Reportedly \u2018Livid\u2019 About Being Passed Over For Debates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A growing chorus of critics is decrying the Commission of Presidential Debates\u2019 decision to not include a single journalist of color among the presidential (and vice presidential) debate moderators this year.<\/p>\n<p>This week it was revealed that <strong>Jim Lehrer<\/strong>, <strong>Bob Schieffer<\/strong>, <strong>Candy Crowley<\/strong> and <strong>Martha Raddatz<\/strong> would moderate the 2012 debates in the fall. This announcement was slammed by the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies.<\/p>\n<p>Representatives of the Spanish language network Univision have also expressed displeasure with the lack of debate moderator diversity.<\/p>\n<p>Now, reportedly, a celebrated black journalist, who has moderated vice presidential debates in the past, is speaking out as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was indeed disappointed,\u201d PBS\u2019 <strong>Gwen Ifill<\/strong> told the New York Times, which reports that she is \u201clivid\u201d about not being offered a role as a moderator this year despite the fact that <strong>Lehrer<\/strong> had previously said he didn\u2019t want the job and she had ably filled the role during the 2004 and 2008 debates.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A growing chorus of critics is decrying the Commission of Presidential Debates\u2019 decision to not include a single journalist of color among the presidential (and vice presidential) debate moderators this year.
