{"id":16260,"date":"2012-08-20T15:55:29","date_gmt":"2012-08-20T19:55:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=16260"},"modified":"2012-08-20T15:55:29","modified_gmt":"2012-08-20T19:55:29","slug":"mother-grandmother-suspected-in-chicago-infants-homicide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=16260","title":{"rendered":"Mother, Grandmother Suspected In Chicago Infant\u2019s Homicide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Cook County, Chicago medical examiner\u2019s office ruled the death of three-week-old <strong>Emonie Beasley-Brown<\/strong> a homicide after an autopsy revealed that she died of suffocation.<\/p>\n<p>Police arrived at the family\u2019s residence in the Englewood area of Chicago to investigate a report that <strong>Emonie\u2019s<\/strong> 14-year-old mother was missing. Upon their arrival, the police heard an infant\u2019s cry, but were not allowed to enter. It was determined that she was being held in a crawl space as someone held a hand over her mouth for about 10 minutes to prevent her from crying, but her wails grew even louder.<\/p>\n<p>According to a preliminary police report, that person then \u201cplaced both hands over her face and applied pressure for about 20 minutes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t until her nose began to bleed that someone exited the back of the home, entered into an alley and took the baby to a neighbor\u2019s house and 911 was called.<\/p>\n<p>The baby was unresponsive at the scene, and after being taken to Chicago Comer Children\u2019s Hospital in critical condition was pronounced dead at 10:35 p.m. Thursday night.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Cook County, Chicago medical examiner\u2019s office ruled the death of three-week-old Emonie Beasley-Brown a homicide after an autopsy revealed that she died of suffocation.
