{"id":16071,"date":"2012-08-09T16:12:05","date_gmt":"2012-08-09T20:12:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=16071"},"modified":"2012-08-09T16:12:05","modified_gmt":"2012-08-09T20:12:05","slug":"white-mississippi-church-apologizes-for-barring-black-wedding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=16071","title":{"rendered":"White Mississippi Church Apologizes For Barring Black Wedding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>JACKSON, Miss. \u2014 A predominantly white Mississippi church has apologized for its refusal to allow a Black couple to marry in its sanctuary, though the couple said Monday they knew nothing of the apology until a reporter called.<\/p>\n<p>The First Baptist Church of Crystal Springs posted the apology on its website Sunday, saying it was seeking \u201cforgiveness and reconciliation\u201d with <strong>Charles Wilson<\/strong> and <strong>Te\u2019Andrea Henderson Wilson<\/strong>, their families and friends and God.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis wrong decision resulted in hurt and sadness for everyone. Both the pastor and those involved in the wedding location being changed have expressed their regrets and sorrow for their actions,\u201d reads part of the six-paragraph statement.<\/p>\n<p>However, <strong>Charles Wilson<\/strong> said no one from the church had contacted him or his wife.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t believe they think they\u2019ve apologized,\u201d <strong>Wilson<\/strong> said.
