Obama"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WASHINGTON \u2014<strong> President Barack Obama<\/strong> is joining NBA legend Michael Jordan and an array of basketball stars to raise money for his re-election campaign later this month.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Obama<\/strong> campaign is planning a fundraising \u201cshoot-around\u201d and dinner in New York on Aug. 22 featuring several NBA stars, including <strong>Carmelo Anthony<\/strong> of the New York Knicks, <strong>Rajon Rondo<\/strong> of the Boston Celtics, <strong>John Wall<\/strong> of the Washington Wizards and others. <strong>Jordan<\/strong>, who played for the Chicago Bulls, <strong>Pres. Obama\u2019s<\/strong> favorite NBA team, and NBA Commissioner<strong> David Stern<\/strong> are co-hosting a $20,000-per person fundraising dinner with the president later in the day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pres. Obama<\/strong> is a longtime basketball fan who regularly plays pickup games with friends and aides. His campaign held a fundraiser last February at the Orlando-area home of NBA player <strong>Vince Carter<\/strong>, who is also involved in the New York events.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign is holding a \u201cshoot-around\u201d with players at New York\u2019s Chelsea Piers sports complex, including <strong>Anthony<\/strong>, <strong>Rondo, Wall<\/strong>, <strong>Paul Pierce<\/strong>, <strong>Kyrie Irving<\/strong>, <strong>Joe Johnson<\/strong> and former NBA centers<strong> Patrick Ewing<\/strong> and <strong>Alonzo Mourning<\/strong>. WNBA stars <strong>Sheryl Swoopes<\/strong> and <strong>Dawn Staley<\/strong> are also participating in the event, which will cost $5,000 for a parent and child or two people to have a \u201cshoot-around skills session\u201d with the players. A $250 donation provides an autograph session with the players.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pres.
