{"id":16051,"date":"2012-08-09T15:22:16","date_gmt":"2012-08-09T19:22:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=16051"},"modified":"2012-09-25T14:02:01","modified_gmt":"2012-09-25T18:02:01","slug":"mom-outraged-after-officers-cleared-in-teens-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=16051","title":{"rendered":"Mom Outraged After Officers Cleared In Teen\u2019s Death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a letter from State<strong> Attorney Mark Ober\u2019s<\/strong> office, Tampa Police officers <strong>Shannon Murphy<\/strong> and <strong>Gregory Pryor<\/strong> have been cleared in the July 22, 2012 shooting death of 16-year-old <strong>Javon Neal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Neal<\/strong> was gunned down by the officers as they pursued him inside the Central Court Apartments on Central Avenue and Columbus Drive. Officers said <strong>Neal<\/strong> was armed with a shotgun, and had turned toward them in a threatening manner when they opened fire on him.<\/p>\n<p>In the letter from <strong>Ober\u2019s<\/strong> office, he said his office has completed the investigation into the shooting, and based upon his review of the facts, reports, interviews, and the applicable law, the use of deadly force by the officers was justified.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Javon Neal\u2019<\/strong>s mother, <strong>Kethessa Fordoms,<\/strong> said she was outraged when she got the news, and as far as she\u2019s concerned, they murdered her son.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no way this is justifiable. It was a case of mistaken identity. The photo they released doesn\u2019t show <strong>Javon<\/strong> doing anything wrong. You really can\u2019t tell who is really on that photo, and we haven\u2019t seen the entire video to know what really happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Fordoms<\/strong> said nothing makes sense to her, and it\u2019s not over yet. She has retained <strong>Attorney Tripp Sebring<\/strong> to file a wrongful death suit against the police department and the officers.<\/p>\n<p>A call to <strong>Sebring\u2019s<\/strong> office was answered by his receptionist who said <strong>Sebring\u2019s<\/strong> first concern at this point is to see the entire surveillance footage of what happened that day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a letter from State Attorney Mark Ober\u2019s office, Tampa Police officers Shannon Murphy and Gregory Pryor have been cleared in the July 22, 2012 shooting death of 16-year-old Javon Neal.
