Governor Jennifer Carroll On Sex Scandal: Black Women Who Look Like Me Aren\u2019t Gay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TALLAHASSEE, Fla.\u00a0 \u2014 An ongoing criminal case against a former top aide to Florida <strong>Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll<\/strong> is transforming into a swirl of allegations about improper relationships, widespread illegal taping and other incidents inside <strong>Carroll\u2019s<\/strong> office.<\/p>\n<p>The allegations, which <strong>Carroll<\/strong> denies, were included in a court filing made late last week by the attorney representing <strong>Carletha Cole<\/strong>, who was arrested last October on charges that she gave an illegally taped conversation with another <strong>Carroll<\/strong> aide to a newspaper reporter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cole\u2019s<\/strong> attorneys made the filing in response to prosecutors\u2019 attempts to seal some evidence in the case.<\/p>\n<p>In the filing,<strong> Cole<\/strong> contends that she witnessed <strong>Carroll<\/strong> and a top aide, <strong>Beatriz Ramos<\/strong>, in a \u201ccompromising position\u201d inside <strong>Carroll\u2019s<\/strong> office, that <strong>Carroll\u2019s<\/strong> chief of staff secretly recorded conversations routinely at the direction of those working for <strong>Gov. Rick Scott<\/strong>, and that the trash can at <strong>Cole\u2019s<\/strong> desk might have been deliberately set ablaze following an argument between her and <strong>Ramos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cole<\/strong> also said <strong>Ramos<\/strong> was living at <strong>Carroll\u2019s<\/strong> home and at one point she was ordered by <strong>Ramos<\/strong> to find adjoining hotel rooms for <strong>Carroll<\/strong> and <strong>Ramos<\/strong> when they traveled. <strong>Cole<\/strong> said that she was \u201cscolded\u201d by an agent with <strong>Carroll\u2019s<\/strong> security team when she placed <strong>Ramos<\/strong> next door to <strong>Carroll<\/strong> when the lieutenant governor and her husband traveled last summer to Puerto Rico.
