{"id":15273,"date":"2012-06-28T13:54:09","date_gmt":"2012-06-28T17:54:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=15273"},"modified":"2012-06-28T12:37:17","modified_gmt":"2012-06-28T16:37:17","slug":"rodney-kings-family-plead-for-help-with-his-burial-costs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=15273","title":{"rendered":"Rodney King\u2019s Family Plead For Help With His Burial Costs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When <strong>Rodney King<\/strong>, 47, passed away on June 17th from an alleged drowning, little did the public know that he was broke. <strong>King<\/strong>, who was brutally beaten by the Los Angeles police department in 1991, has died penniless.<\/p>\n<p>Now his family members need money to lay his body in the ground.<\/p>\n<p>After his videotaped beating, the troubled <strong>King<\/strong> sued \u2014 and won \u2014 $3.8 million from the LAPD. Yet <strong>King\u2019s<\/strong> family members, his three grown daughters, along with other extended relatives, say that the funeral expenses will run upward of $22,000 and they cannot afford to cover the exorbitant costs.<\/p>\n<p>The family has now resorted to asking the public to donate to a memorial fund for the deceased so that he can receive a proper burial.<\/p>\n<p>According to <strong>King<\/strong> family representative <strong>Kali Bowyer<\/strong>, \u201cThey need the money.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The family has planned the burial for June 30th at Forest Lawn cemetery in Hollywood Hills, where such legendary celebrities as the King of Pop <strong>Michael Jackson<\/strong> are buried.<\/p>\n<p>The funeral will be open to the public.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When Rodney King, 47, passed away on June 17th from an alleged drowning, little did the public know that he was broke.
