{"id":14243,"date":"2012-04-30T16:14:28","date_gmt":"2012-04-30T20:14:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=14243"},"modified":"2012-04-30T15:45:34","modified_gmt":"2012-04-30T19:45:34","slug":"salon-owner-offering-moms-an-elegant-evening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=14243","title":{"rendered":"Salon Owner Offering Moms \u2018An Elegant Evening\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>BY GWEN HAYES<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Sentinel Editor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the past few months,<strong> Iris Collins<\/strong> has devoted a great deal of her time to preparing for what she calls \u201can elegant evening for mothers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Owner of The Edge Beauty Salon, <strong>Collins<\/strong> has put together \u2018A Mother\u2019s Day Fashion Show Extravaganza,\u2019 which will feature food, music, fashion and hair styles.<\/p>\n<p>The show is being dedicated to her mother, <strong>Ms. Barbara Kelly<\/strong>, a member of College Hill Church of God in Christ. \u201cMy mother\u2019s birthday is around Mother\u2019s Day and she lost her mother on Mother\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why I try to do something to honor her,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The theme of the Mother\u2019s Day event is \u201cWhen I was a child I walked as a child, but now that I am a woman, I walk in style.\u201d The master of ceremonies will be <strong>Steve Marshall<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The youngest of 7 children, <strong>Collins<\/strong> is excited that her brother and sister-in-law will be a part of this event. Her brother,<strong> Ernest Collins, Jr<\/strong>. is a gospel recording artist. He and the <strong>Collins<\/strong> Family will be on the program.<\/p>\n<p>Her sister-in-law, <strong>Jada Collins<\/strong>, former Ebony Fashion Fair commentator, will be the commentator for this event. Several of the former Fashion Fair models will also join local models for the fashion show.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Collins<\/strong> is excited about the tribute to<strong> Trayvon Martin<\/strong> by local talent, Tampa Bay\u2019s Chosen Models, who will model their stylish hoodie outfits.<\/p>\n<p>During dinner, the guests will be entertained by stylists who will be showcasing various hairstyles.<\/p>\n<p>Also on the program will be <strong>Tatiana Denson<\/strong> (special guest) and award-winning gospel artist, <strong>Dana Mackey<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are on sale for a nominal fee.
