{"id":14237,"date":"2012-04-30T16:10:41","date_gmt":"2012-04-30T20:10:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=14237"},"modified":"2012-04-30T16:21:37","modified_gmt":"2012-04-30T20:21:37","slug":"mom-pleads-for-help-to-find-mentally-challenged-son","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=14237","title":{"rendered":"Mom Pleads For Help To Find Mentally Challen- ged Son"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When <strong>Patrick Williams<\/strong> was 4-years-old, his mother, <strong>Juanita Grey<\/strong>, said he suffered a head injury after falling three stories from an apartment in West Tampa.<\/p>\n<p>Since that time, <strong>Ms. Grey<\/strong> said she\u2019s tried to get help for her ailing son, but hasn\u2019t been successful.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Williams<\/strong>, now 38, has been missing since April 25th, and <strong>Ms. Grey<\/strong> said she fears something may have happened to him, or she fears law enforcement officers may harm him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been trying for years to get him help, but I think they only see him as a criminal, and not a young man with serious mental issues. I think he gets overlooked because of his criminal background. He\u2019s been on medication, but it makes him worse because it\u2019s too strong. I\u2019ve also been denied the right to be his caretaker.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Grey<\/strong> said on April 25th, her son went for a walk and she hasn\u2019t seen him since. She also said she\u2019s alerted police, and filed a missing person\u2019s report.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t expect the police to actually look for him, unless he breaks the law again. I just want them to listen to me when I try to tell them that he doesn\u2019t know what\u2019 he\u2019s doing and he needs help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Grey<\/strong> said <strong>Patrick<\/strong> doesn\u2019t communicate well with others, so you may not realize he has a mental problem.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe only time anyone pays attention to him is when he acts out, or does something unlawful. He has a mental health history and has been in several mental health institutions, but all they do is let him out on medication. They don\u2019t really help him and the system is keeping me from helping him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Grey<\/strong> said she hopes her son is found before something tragic happens.<\/p>\n<p>If anyone has seen<strong> Patrick Williams<\/strong>, please contact the Tampa Police Department at (813) 231-6130.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Reporter Leon B.
