{"id":14086,"date":"2012-04-19T14:28:14","date_gmt":"2012-04-19T18:28:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=14086"},"modified":"2012-04-19T14:28:14","modified_gmt":"2012-04-19T18:28:14","slug":"barry-bonds-given-extension-in-appeal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=14086","title":{"rendered":"Barry Bonds Given Extension In Appeal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN FRANCISCO \u2014 <strong>Barry Bonds<\/strong> has been given an extension until May 4 to file written arguments in his appeal to overturn his obstruction of justice conviction.<\/p>\n<p>The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Monday granted a second extension request by <strong>Bonds\u2019<\/strong> lawyers, which had been filed Friday. The original deadline had been March 21 before the court granted an extension last month to April 20<\/p>\n<p>Under the new schedule, the government will have until June 4 to respond. After that, Bonds\u2019 lawyers will have another 14 days to file a reply brief if they so choose.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dennis Riordan,<\/strong> <strong>Bonds<\/strong>\u2019 appeals lawyer, said in a filing to the court that his office could not meet the April 20 deadline because of several other cases in which it was involved.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bonds\u2019<\/strong> appeal will be randomly assigned to a three-judge panel that will hear oral arguments this year.
