{"id":13928,"date":"2012-04-12T15:22:03","date_gmt":"2012-04-12T19:22:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=13928"},"modified":"2012-04-12T14:26:23","modified_gmt":"2012-04-12T18:26:23","slug":"california-cops-invite-fbi-to-investigate-shooting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=13928","title":{"rendered":"California Cops Invite FBI To Investigate Shooting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PASADENA, Calif. &#8212; Pasadena&#8217;s police chief is inviting the FBI to investigate the death of a college student who was shot and killed by officers last month.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chief Phillip Sanchez<\/strong> says the FBI would add another independent review to the investigation of 19-year-old <strong>Kendrec McDade&#8217;s<\/strong> March 24 death.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sanchez&#8217;s<\/strong> invitation comes days after <strong>McDade&#8217;s<\/strong> parents sued police, saying his death was part of a pattern of Pasadena police killing black people.<\/p>\n<p>Officers say a 911 caller led them to believe <strong>McDade<\/strong> was an armed robbery suspect when they opened fire. He was unarmed.<\/p>\n<p>FBI spokeswoman <strong>Laura Eimiller<\/strong> says the federal law enforcement agency is investigating to determine whether a violation of federal civil rights was a factor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eimiller<\/strong> says the FBI routinely assesses incidents where questions of civil rights violations are raised.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PASADENA, Calif. &#8212; Pasadena&#8217;s police chief is inviting the FBI to investigate the death of a college student who was shot and killed by officers last month.
