{"id":13915,"date":"2012-04-12T15:14:06","date_gmt":"2012-04-12T19:14:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=13915"},"modified":"2012-04-12T13:51:13","modified_gmt":"2012-04-12T17:51:13","slug":"jury-selected-for-jennifer-hudsons-family-murder-trial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=13915","title":{"rendered":"Jury Selected For Jennifer Hudson\u2019s Family Murder Trial"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CHICAGO \u2014 Jury selection wrapped up Tuesday for the Chicago trial of the man accused of killing the mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew of actress and singer <strong>Jennifer Hudson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The final four panelists were chosen on the second day of one-by-one questioning of prospective jurors.<\/p>\n<p>The specter of <strong>Hudson\u2019s<\/strong> star power and how it could affect proceedings loomed over the two days of jury selection this week.<\/p>\n<p>Before he let those chosen Tuesday head home,<strong> Judge Charles Burns<\/strong> warned them not to switch on<em> \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d<\/em> this Thursday because<strong> Hudson<\/strong> may appear on the show, on which she first rose to fame as a contestant in 2004.<\/p>\n<p>During juror questioning Tuesday, <strong>William Balfour (pictured)<\/strong>, 30, sat unsmiling and slumping in his chair. But he kept his eyes fixed on each would-be juror as they sat a few feet across a table to answer questions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Balfour<\/strong>, the estranged husband of <strong>Hudson\u2019s<\/strong> sister, is accused of shooting to death <strong>Hudson\u2019s<\/strong> mother, <strong>Darnell Donerson<\/strong>, 57, brother, <strong>Jason Hudson<\/strong>, 29, and her 7-year-old nephew, <strong>Julian King<\/strong>. <strong>Jennifer Hudson<\/strong> is on a 300-name list of potential witnesses and is expected to attend each day of the trial once testimony begins April 23.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CHICAGO \u2014 Jury selection wrapped up Tuesday for the Chicago trial of the man accused of killing the mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew of actress and singer Jennifer Hudson.
