{"id":13823,"date":"2012-04-09T15:44:32","date_gmt":"2012-04-09T19:44:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=13823"},"modified":"2012-04-09T15:27:06","modified_gmt":"2012-04-09T19:27:06","slug":"sapp-files-for-bankruptcy-in-florida","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=13823","title":{"rendered":"Sapp Files For Bankruptcy In Florida"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. \u2014Former NFL star <strong>Warren Sapp<\/strong> owes more than $6.7 million to creditors and back child support and alimony, according to a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing in South Florida.<\/p>\n<p>The court documents were filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Fort Lauderdale on March 30.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sapp\u2019s<\/strong> average monthly income is $115,881, according to the filings, and includes $45,000 for a final contract payment with Showtime, $48,000 for an appearance with CCA Sports and $18,675 as an advance for a book deal. His contract with the NFL Network ends in August, the filings show, and it was unknown if the contract will be renewed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sapp<\/strong>, a former defensive tackle for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Oakland Raiders during his 13-year NFL career, was also once a contestant on ABC\u2019s \u201cDancing with the Stars.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>REPORT: SAPP \u2018LIKELY\u2019 OUT AT NFL NETWORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When former NFL defensive tackle <strong>Warren Sapp<\/strong> recently declared bankruptcy, he listed his income at $45,000 per month from NFL Network on a contract that expires in August 2012. <strong>Sapp<\/strong> said in the paperwork he\u2019s not sure if the contract will be extended.<\/p>\n<p>According to <strong>Greg Bedard<\/strong> of the Boston Globe, it probably won\u2019t be.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bedard<\/strong> reports, citing two league sources, that <strong>Sapp\u2019s<\/strong> employment is \u201clikely over,\u201d and that <strong>Sapp<\/strong> has not been on NFL Network in the two-plus weeks since he went on the air and outed former Saints tight end <strong>Jeremy Shockey<\/strong> as the player who blew the whistle on the Saints\u2019 bounty system in 2011.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. \u2014Former NFL star Warren Sapp owes more than $6.7 million to creditors and back child support and alimony, according to a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing in South Florida.
