He became the chain\u2019s first Black CEO.<\/p>\n<p>A 22-year veteran of McDonald\u2019s, <strong>Thompson<\/strong> helped spearheaded some major initiatives at the burger giant, including the company\u2019s national rollout of specialty coffee drinks.
