\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Parents & Children Advance Together (PCAT) Literacy Ministries, Inc. is expanding its reading program at Sulphur Springs Elementary School.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The program will expand from two days a week to five days a week, providing more tutoring and one-on-one time with children needing help.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Students are selected based on school or teacher recommendations and referred to the program.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Students are then assessed by PCAT certified teachers and provided with an Individual Lesson Plan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Parents are required to aid in the lesson plan by reading at home with children and encouraging reading in different environments.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 PCAT provides parental instruction to best facilitate the lessons in the home.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cThis year we received an increase in grant funding from the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation and the Children\u2019s Board. These funders allow us to provide programming at no cost to our families,\u201d said Moise<\/b>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cWith increased funding we are now able to have students attend five days a week. Previously students attended twice a week. This increase in time helps to facilitate greater learning progress and growth for our students.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cWe are also collaborating with parents to help them<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

learn how to encourage and help their students. We are now able to accept students with disabilities. We empower them to learn in environments that support them in their learning needs,\u201d stressed Moise<\/b>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
